Nearly 20 years a Toastmaster, I was Division Governor of the Year when Division E was the largest in the UK, covering northern England and the whole of Scotland. I directed the 2017 Steel City Conference and I've been closely involved in every SteelHaven event since. A member of only three clubs at the moment, I also spend time podcasting about the climate crisis and keeping bees.
I’m a trained funeral celebrant and a (red-coated) Toastmaster. I’m a member of two Toastmaster International clubs, York EbOrators since 2007 and Online Orators in 2020. I was part of the Steel City team and attended the Safe Haven Conference, so it was a natural step to be part of the amazing SteelHaven team.
As Toastmaster of many years, from my first involvement in the Steel City Toastmaster Conference, I have loved being involved in the development and growth of Public Speaking Conferences and particularly SteelHaven. I now live on the very North Coast of Scotland and love that I can still stay connected with everyone through this conference.
As a distinguished toastmaster Binal has been involved in many projects during her time with Toastmasters including being part of the Safe Haven conference team. Binal is a founder member of both ‘Confident Speakers’, a lunchtime group, and ’Online Orators’ a speaking group that enable members to communicate confidently, especially within a professional, corporate environment. Binal is delighted to be part of the SteelHaven team.

I'm a retired chartered accountant who spends a lot of his time doing voluntary work. I'm a member of three Toastmasters International clubs, York EbOrators, Doncaster Speakers and Hull Speakers. I have been a member of TMI since 2002 when along with Anthony Day I founded Leeds City Toastmasters. I was a member of the conference team for the White Rose District 71 conference in 2009 and the Steel City District 71 conference in Sheffield in 2017. I have been a committee member in all four previous SteelHaven events and I am looking forward to our up and coming conference in November 2021.
I’m a translator-interpreter and teacher so speaking has always been a part of my life. I was a founder member of Valencia Toastmasters in 2007 and, after serving in a number of roles, am now a member of three clubs in the UK. As part of the Steel City team it was irresistible to continue to Cork and York as part of SteelHaven in Onloneland. I have taken part in conferences all over the UK and Europe and am proud to fly the SteelHaven flag.
I joined the Association of Speakers Clubs in 1991 and then joined Toastmasters International in 2003. I have served in every club committee role and as Area and Division Director. I was part of the organising team for the Boadicea conference in Colchester and was delighted to join in helping with the SteelHaven events.
I’ve been involved in public speaking since I could talk, thanks to my English teaching Mum’s desire to show off her only child! I’ve been a member of Toastmasters International since 2002 and am a founder member of York EbOrators. I was involved in organising both White Rose and Steel City conferences for Toastmasters in UK and am a serial conference attender. With speaking being part of my DNA it was a logical step to become part of the SteelHaven conference team.
I was a Toastmaster for over 18 years and have a “new” and an “old” DTM. My favourite part of Toastmasters is attending events – training, contests and especially, conferences. Preferably in person but by zoom is a good compromise. I run 2 small businesses. At Safeglass (Europe) Limited, we manufacture a safety product for trains and buses. At 3D Print Works, we offer 3D printing services and we manufacture 3D printing filament. When not Toastmastering, I like to walk (and pick up rubbish along the way!). I also swim outdoors all year round in just a bathing suit (skins). I read science fiction and am a member of the Glasgow Sci Fi & Fantasy Book Discussion Group. Other than that, I like to go on nice holidays and spend time with my husband. I have a cat called Lewis, who turns up at zoom meetings a lot.
